Contact the DGT, Trànsit and Trafikoa, the main traffic authorities in Spain. Parking tickets in towns and cities have an independent regime and are managed by each municipality.
DGT contacts
The DGT (Spanish traffic authority) offers a telephone helpline in English from Monday to Friday from 9am to 9pm. This service can be used to resolve doubts about paying fines over the Internet, the exact location where an offence was committed and any problems relating to traffic fines imposed by the DGT. The DGT is responsible for fines for speeding and other offences on 90% of Spanish roads.
The contact telephone number is 0034 987 010 559. A voice-over in Spanish provides information on the various options; this message lasts about 30 seconds, after which we are automatically transferred to a telephone operator. It is at this point that we must inform them that we wish to speak in English so that they can transfer us to the corresponding department. Waiting time in English is usually short in the morning. In the afternoon, attention is almost always immediate.
Trànsit contacts
Trànsit is the traffic authority in Catalonia. The telephone number is 0034 932 142 124. They are only available in the morning. We cannot confirm that they assist in English.
Trafikoa contacts
Trafikoa is the traffic authority in the Spanish Basque Country. The telephone number is 0034 945 018 000. They are open until 6pm, except in August, when they only open in the morning. We cannot confirm that they assist in English.
